Pittsburgh, PA – July 17, 2012 - Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Mario Cafaro to Vice President, Information Technology Systems & Services (ITSS). Mario began his career with MSA in the Information Management Solutions Division as an analyst in 1999. Prior to joining MSA, Mario earned a BS in Accounting and an MS in Information Systems Management at Duquesne University.
In 2001, Mario applied for a position in the ITSS Division as a Technical Coordinator to pursue his interests and build upon his formal education in the IT area. He rose through the ranks in ITSS, and was promoted to IT Director in 2007. As a Director, he was responsible for the Windows, Citrix and mail servers and internal project coordination with the personnel in these disciplines reporting to him. During this time, Mario handled the support of the internal needs of MSA across its multiple business divisions, and also actively interfaced with external customers. His ability to articulate MSA’s capabilities, and understand and synthesize client needs, assisted MSA with gaining the confidence of existing customers and new clients in ITSS’ evolving field of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.
As ITSS grew its external business, and the demands of the internal businesses expanded, Mario’s responsibilities increased. In 2009 he was promoted to Group Director and became instrumental in MSA establishing its private cloud, investigating and implementing the use of tablets and smart devices, implementing and adopting VMware and other new technologies while building his staff to support MSA’s growing needs. Mario is a member of several local technology groups and attends training sessions to stay current on technologies.
Mario has teamed with many of MSA’s other divisions to deliver quality products and services to our many clients. This role will increase over time to provide better and higher levels of service to ITSS’ internal client base. A key priority that Mario will address is a more formalized process of dealing with applications and development projects within MSA divisional IT groups. This will lead to collaborative efforts between ITSS and the other MSA businesses to be proactive regarding rapid changes in technology, compliance and the domains of our current and future customers. According to Jim Shaw, MSA CIO and Senior Vice President of ITSS, “Mario will be a key asset to assist me in strengthening MSA’s ability to approach existing clients and prospects with innovative solutions at the various levels and divisions within those organizations. Leveraging the quality work of MSA that our clients have learned to depend upon and this partnership with Mario will support our founding principle of being an organization ‘built to last’.”
