Robert Moran 2016 RT.JPGMSA's 7th CPG Leaders Roundtable was a rousing success with attendees.  Held November 3, at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Pittsburgh, MSA’s client-base was well represented with clients from the confectionary, tobacco, and distribution channels.   Attendees had positive reviews of the event, appreciating the actionable information presented: “I enjoyed it very much and took lessons away that I will apply, and look to (work with) MSA as a partner to help us move forward on initiatives for greater analytics in the future.”

The theme of this year’s event was "Advanced Analytics: The New Consumer-Demand-Chain Currency" and featured an all-star lineup of expert speakers.

The event began with a welcome dinner for attendees the evening of November 2, featuring a presentation by A.J. Drexler, CEO and Chief Strategist for Campos Inc.  Ms. Drexler’s presentation, “Minding your Customer’s Experience?  (If not, you can bet your competitor is!)” shared how to stay relevant during the consumer’s journey to purchase.

The following morning, futurist Robert Moran of Brunswick Insight (part of Brunswick Group, LLP) kicked off the day with his presentation on “The Ways We’ll Be: A Futurist’s Take on Consumers in 2021 and Beyond,” which took a look at the future of consumers in the industry.

Other speakers included:
Mark Madsen, President of Third Nature, Inc., and a principal author of Clickstream Data Warehousing, who presented on the importance of data governance in adopting analytics with his presentation “Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain (The Unseen Work Behind Analytics)."

John Dick, Co-Founder and CEO of CivicScience, whose presentation, “Research Through the Windshield, Not the Rearview Mirror” explained how to view research with a forward view and examine whether the expectations of astute consumers can be a reliable judge of an asset’s future consumption and popularity.

Jack Phillips, Co-Founder and CEO of the International Institute for Analytics, presented “Indexing Analytical Excellence: How Top Performers are Winning with Analytics” which provided a framework for an analytical maturity assessment as well as an examination of where the CPG industry overall compares to other verticals.

Scott Houser, CEO of Nutonian, shared information on putting artificial intelligence to work to solve retailers’ most pressing data driven problems, and what CPG manufacturers need to know to remain competitive in his presentation “Automate Data-driven Discovery with Machine Intelligence."

Also included in the event was a panel discussion, led by Co-Founder and CEO of Othot and Adjunct Professor at Pitt Business, Andy Hannah.  The panel was comprised of senior- and graduate-school level students in analytic and technical fields, sharing their perspective on “Hiring and Retaining Top Talent” in an age when demand exceeds supply.

MSA thanks all of the clients and the speakers who helped make the 2016 Roundtable such a huge success.
