PITTSBURGH, PA – February 3, 2017 – Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA), a premier advanced analytics, big data management/harmonization and information technology provider, today announced the promotion of Timothy W. McGuire, Sr., PhD, to President. He joined MSA in 1998 as Sr. Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and became Chief Analytics Officer in 2008. McGuire has been on MSA’s Board of Directors since 1968 and currently serves on the Point Park University Board of Trustees and the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business Board of Visitors.
Since joining MSA, McGuire has collaborated with Division Heads to guide strategy, innovation, and client contract negotiations and recently led the design and implementation of MSA’s Analytic Center of Excellence. In his new role, McGuire will oversee MSA’s innovation strategy, product and service development, and expansion into new markets. He will continue to drive the cultivation of strategic customer relationships across all markets and lead in generating strong customer growth and revenue performance.
“MSA has had an outstanding record of developing and providing innovative client solutions and methodologies – it pioneered the data-science revolution decades before that term entered the vernacular,” says McGuire. “I appreciate and am honored by the confidence of Dr. Al Kuehn and the Board and look forward to working with MSA’s outstanding employees to further accelerate what MSA pioneered.”
“I am very proud of what MSA has accomplished since its incorporation in 1963,” added MSA’s founder, Dr. Alfred A. Kuehn, PhD. “Tim McGuire’s accomplishments as Chair of the University of Iowa Economics Department, Deputy Dean of the Carnegie Mellon University Graduate School of Administration (GSIA, now the Tepper School of Business), and Dean of the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business demonstrate that he is a proven transformational leader. I have asked him to take the lead in developing our corporate structure and management teams in order to more efficiently carry on and enhance our history of client service and innovation.”
Working under Nobel Laureate Kenneth Arrow, McGuire earned a doctoral degree in economics from Stanford University, majoring in economics and econometric/statistical theory, modeling and analysis. Prior to joining MSA, McGuire completed a distinguished career in academia for several research universities’ business schools, specializing in Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, and Social and Decision Sciences. He is published broadly in academic journals on topics such as information systems, econometrics/statistics, marketing, management, medicine and biometrics, policy, and social and decision sciences.
